Demo Heat Embossing

 Hallo allemaal,

Tijdens de voorjaarsbeurzen heb ik een zeer uitgebreide demo gedaan om allemaal verschillende technieken met embossing poeder. Onderstaande kaart was daar ook één van.

During the craft shows this past spring i did a demo showing all kinds of different techniques with embossing powder and this card was one of them.

Hoe heb ik ze gemaakt?

How did i made this card?

1) Neem een stuk karton van 9,5 x 13,5 bv Florence.

1) Take a piece of white cardstock measuring 9,5 x 13,5 cm

2) Spray licht met water en daarna met Oxide gathered Twigs en Old Paper en terug wat water. Laat overnacht drogen of versnel het droog proces door de heat tool.

2) Spray lightly with plane water and then with oxide spray Gathered Twigs and Old Paper, add some more water. Let dry overnight or speed up the drying proces with the heat gun.

3) Steek dit paneel tussen een embossing folder met raders, klokken of iets anders dat voor een mannenkaart kan dienen en draai door de stansmachine. 

3) Put this dry panel between an embossing folder with a gear pattern or clocks or something else suitable for a male card and run that through your die cutting machine.

4) Beïnkt een brayer met embossing inkt en rol zachtjes over het verheven paneel in een paar verschillende richtingen.

4) Ink up a brayer with embossing ink anr roll very gently over the elevated pattern in different directions.

5) Strooi er Wow! Nebula Stardust over en verhit langs de onderzijde.

5) Pour over the panel Wow! embossing powder Nebula Stardust and heat set from underneath.

6) Breng rondom langs de rand Oxide Scorched Timber aan en kleef op een bruine basis kaart. Voeg een tekst toe naar keuze. Een leuke mannenkaart.

6) Add a border all round with oxide scorched timber. Glue the card to a brown card base and add a sentiment to your liking. A great male card.

Card 4 with the new Wow! embossing powders - Kaart 4 met de nieuwe Wow! embossing poeders

Hi dear viewers,

Vandaag ben ik hier met de 4de en laatste inspiratie kaart gemaakt met de fantastische Quad Building Blocks van Wow! embossing poeder. Het zijn 3 echte mannenkaarten geworden en 1 die je voor beide kan gebruiken. De kaart met de Chevrons kun je eigenlijk voor alles gebruiken. En zo hebben jullie weer wat inspiratie voor mannenkaarten ook. Onder de foto staat weer stap-voor-stap hoe ik de kaart gemaakt heb. Veel kijk plezier.

Today i am here with the 4th and last inspiration card made with the fantastic Quad Building Blocks by Wow! Embossing Powders. And 3 of them are real male cards and the Chevron one you could use for anything and anyone. Lots of time people tell me they don't know how to make male cards so now you have some extra inspiration. Below the card the step-by-step explanation how i made the card. Enjoy.

1) I heb een stuk Florence wit karton gesneden op 10x14cm en daarop gesprayed met de Distress Oxide Spray Hickory Smoke direct erbovenop met water gesprayed ook. Het extra water zal de kleur nog wat meer dempen. Goed drogen met de heat tool.

I cut a piece of white cardstock 10x14 cm and sprayed it with Distress Oxide Spray Hickory Smoke and sprayed some clean water on top of the oxide too. This will tone it down a bit. Dry with a heat gun.

2) Daarna heb ik dit paneel tussen een embossing folder gestoken van Nellie's Choice EF3D024 Streeppatroon-1 en door de stansmachine gedraaid.

Then i put this panel between an embossign folder Nellie's Choice EF3D024 Stripe Patern-1 and run through the die-cutting machine.

4) Vervolgens heb ik een brayer beïnkt met embossing inkt (rollen-tillen-rollen-tillen om je brayer goed te beïnkten) en heb ik de brayer over het verheven patroon gerold. Ga je rechtstreeks met je ink pad over het patroon heb je veel meer kans dat er inkt naast de tekening komt en kleeft je poeder waar het niet moet zitten. ZORG ER WEL VOOR DAT JE HET PANEEL ZEER GOED GEDROOGD HAD MET DE HEAT TOOL !!!!! anders zal er nog steeds poeder kleven waar het niet moet door het vocht in je kaart. Strooi de kleur Asphalt van de set erover. Tap het overtollige poeder zachtjes af. Verhit het poeder dan langs de onderzijde tot alles gesmolten is.

Next i inked up a brayer with embossing ink (roll-lift-roll-lift to ink up your brayer very well) and then i rolled my brayer over the elevated pattern of my panel. If you go with the ink pad directly to the paper the chance that ink ends up down between the pattern is much more likely. MAKE SURE YOU DRIED YOUR PANEL VERRY VERRY WELL WITH THE HEAT GUN !! or powder will stick to the moist in your card where it shouldn't stick. Add the Asphalt powder of the set and gently tap off any excess. Then heat set from underneath until all is melted.

5) Snijd een basiskaart van 21x14,5 cm uit lichtgrijs karton en vouw dubbel naar 10,5x14,5cm. Kleef daarop het paneel dat je embossed hebt.

Cut a light grey card blank of 21x14.5cm and fold in half to 10,5x14.5cm this way you will get 2 cards out of 1 A4 sheet. Glue down your embossed panel onto the card.

6) De moto heb ik 2x uitgestanst een keer uit zwart karton en 1x uit wit karton. De snijmal is van Nellie's Choice SDB001 Motorbike. Bedek de witte met embossing inkt en strooi er de kleur Asphalt over van de Building Blocks set. Verhit langs onder. Kleef dan de 2 stansjes op elkaar en vervolgens op de kaart.

The motorbike i diecut twice a black one and a white one. The white one i covered with embossing powder and then with the Asphalt powder. Tap off gently any excess and heat set from underneath. Glue the 2 bikes together and then onto the card. The die i used is Nellie's Choice SDB001 Motorbike.

7) De tekst blokjes zijn van de Chevron kaart. Weet je nog dat ik die 2x had uitgesneden om de 2 kaders op elkaar te kunnen kleven? Van die tweede uitsnede heb ik de strookjes bewaard en daarvan heb ik er nu 2 gebruikt om mijn tekstjes op te stempelen. Ik heb er eerst een dun laagje oxide Hickory Smoke op gezet dan gestempeld met VersaFine Nocturne. Daarna met een mini VersaMark inkt padje de achterste rand beïnkt en de onderste. Daarop het Concrete poeder gestrooid en verhit tot smelting. Op het onderste strookje heb ik hetzelfde gedaan maar voor het poeder heb ik deze kaart de schuine rand en de onderrand beïnkt en bedekt met Concrete. Kleef de strookjes op met Foam Tape.

Remember the Chevron card? And remember that i had diecut this twice to be able to glue together both frames? From the second diecut i saved all the strips and i have used 2 of them for my sentiment on this card. First i added a thin layer of Oxide Hickory Smoke to the strips not too dark, just to get rid of the stark white. Then i stamped my sentiment in VersaFine Nocturne. For the top sentiment strip i added embossing ink to the back edge and to the bottom edge, added Concrete powder and heat set. BUT for the bottom sentiment strip i added the embossing ink to the slanted edge and to the bottom edge, added Concrete and heat set. Adhere the strips with foam tape.

Card 3 with the new Wow! embossing powders - Kaart 3 met de nieuwe Wow! embossing poeders

Hi dear viewers, 

Vandaag is het alweer kaart nummer 3 met de nieuwe set van Wow! embossing poeders de Quad Building Blocks. Wat een gaaf poeder en wat een gave kleuren, echt top. Onder de foto krijg je weer de uitleg hoe je de kaart maakt. Het is weer een mannenkaart geworden. Veel kijk plezier.

Today we're already at card number 3 made with the new Wow! Quad Building Blocks embossing powders. Wat a cool powder and what great colors in this set. Love-love-love. Again below the card i explain the how to for this card. And once again it's a male card for the guys among us. Enjoy.

1. Ik heb een stencil gebruikt van My Favorite Things om de vakken op een gemakkelijke manier te hebben. De stencil is ST-195 Smart Mask - Diagonal Center. Kleef deze op je kaartkarton van 10x13,2cm kleef vast aan de achterzijde met bv Woodware stencil tape.

I used a stencil from My Favorite Things to make the color boxes in an easy way. I used the ST-195 Smart Mask - Diagonal Center. Adhere this mask with f.e. Woodware stencil tape to your white cardstock that measures 10x13,2 cm. Attach at the back.

2. Gebruik een Wow! embossing pen of één van VersaMark om de omtrek te tekenen van 1 groot open vak van de stencil. Daarna vul je het volledige vak op met embossing inkt je kan dit doen door rechtstraaks met je inkt pad in de opening te gaan. Ik heb daarvoor een mini inkt pad van VersaMark gebruikt. Werk in slechts 1 vak. Bijvoorbeeld te beginnen met het onderste. 

Using a Wow! embossing pen trace around the open block at the bottom. If you don't have a Wow! pen you can use a VersaMark one but use the bullet tip not the brush tip. Then fill in the entire block with embossing ink. I used a mini VersaMark inkpad for this because it works best for me. Work in the open block below first and finish this one off completely before moving on.

3. Verwijder de stencil en strooi er de kleur Granite op eventueel met een fijn penseeltje enkele korrels verwijderen die op de witte kader rondom of in de open strook in het midden zijn gevallen. Verhit tot smelting langs onder. Laat je heat tool eerst heel goed opwarmen dan smelt het poeder sneller en je gaat je karton minder makkelijk krom trekken.

Remove the stencil en throw on the color Granite. In case some grains fel down on the white frame or white strip in the middle, remove with a small pointy paint brush. Heat set from underneath make sure to heat up your heat gun very well before melting. This way the powder melts faster and the chance your cardstock warps is less likely.

4. Leg de stencil terug en kleef terug vast en doe nu hetzelfde met het bovenste blok alleen gebruik je deze keer de kleur Concrete.

Put the stencil back and do exactly the same as before only this time use the color Concrete.

5. Stans enkele gears uit, ik heb deze uit de set van Studio Light gebruikt de SL-GW-CD830 en bedek ook met embossing inkt en daarna 2 met de kleur Granite die op het grijs komen en 1 gear met de kleur Concrete voor op het onderste stuk.

Die cut a few gears. I have used the Studio Light set SL-GW-CD830 and cover with embossing ink and 2 of them with Granite (those are for the grey top block) and 1 with Concrete (for the bottom dark block) 

6. De tekst die ik heb gestempeld zit bij de grote HI snijmal en is een oudere set van Studio Light de KJ-BBKJ-SCD26 ik heb daarvan ook de HI snijmal gebruikt. De schaduw heb ik uit zwart karton gesneden de voorkant uit wit en bedekt met het Concrete poeder.

The sentiment is from a Die+Stamp set an older one from Studio Light KJ-BBKJ-SCD26 The sentiment i stamped with black VersaFine ink the die has a shadow which i die cut from black cardstock the front letters from white cardstock and covered them with the Concrete powder.

7. Snij een dubbele donkergrijze basis kaart van 10,5x13,7 cm (afmeting is dichtgevouwen) en kleef daarop je paneel. De gears opkleven en de HI opkleven met foam voor wat diepte op je kaart.

Cut a dark grey card blank of 10,5 x 13,7 cm (meassurement is folded in half !) adhere on this you panel. Glue down the gears and the HI sentiment i added with foam tape for some depth in the card.

Card 2 with the new Wow! embossing powders - Kaart 2 met de nieuwe Wow! embossing poeders

Hi everyone, (scroll down for english)

Zoals gisteren beloofd toon ik jullie vandaag kaart nummer 2 als inspiratie. Op deze kaart heb ik alle vier de kleuren gebruikt van de set Building Blocks. Onder de kaart vertel ik hoe ik ze gemaakt heb.

As promised yesterday i show inspiration card 2 today using the set Quad Building Blocks. On today's card i am using all 4 colors in this set. Below the card i explain how i made this card. Enjoy.

1. Ik heb van My Favorite Things de snijmal MFT-1031 Chevron Elements. Geen idee of ze nog ergens op de markt is maar ongetwijfeld zijn er veel mensen die deze mal hebben liggen. Ik heb ze gesneden uit wit cardstock en dit heb ik 2x gedaan. Het witte kader dat je hebt die heb ik van beide uitsnedes op elkaar gekleefd.

I used the My Favorite Things Die MFT-1031 Chevron Elements. I have no idea if it is still on the market somewhere but no doubt many have this die lying around. I cut it twice out of white cardstock and the two frames you get i glued together.

2. Alle losse elementen heb ik dan voorzien van embossing poeder eerst Asphalt dan Granite vervolgens Concrete om dan te eindigen met Brick. Dan herhaal je deze volgorde.

All the loose elements i heat set with the 4 colors embossing powder. First Asphalt then Granite next Concrete to end up with Brick. Repeat this sequence. It will cover all the elements twice with each color.

3. Dan heb ik uit een A4 vel EasyConnect van CraftEmotions een stuk gesneden net iets kleiner dan de grote van mijn wit kader. Maak een stukje beschermlaag los  niet te veel en zet daar je kader mooi op vast. trek dan de rest van de beschermlaag los zodat het hele kader erop vastgekleefd kan worden. Daarna kun je gemakkelijk alle losse elementen in de openingen van de kader kleven.

Then i used an A4 sheet of EasyConnect from CraftEmotions. This is double sided adhesive in sheets. So you can use any brand you have on hand. I cit a piece from this sheet slightly smaller than my white frame. Peel off a small piece of the protective layer and place your white frame on it. When the frame is securely fastened you can peel off the rest of the protective sheet. Use the protective sheet to press down firmly the frame. Then you can glue all the loose elements, just lay them in place in the frame openings and press down, easy peasy thanks to the doublesided adhesive sheet.

4. Je kan afwerken naar keuze. Mijn hello is met een EKtools pons gedaan. Ik heb eerst een stukje wit karton bedekt met Wow! Polished Gold embossing poeder. Ik heb de polished genomen omdat ik als contrast met het ruwe poeder op de achtergrond een heel gladde tekst wilde. Daarna heb ik de hello nog 3x geponst en alles op elkaar gekleefd en dan op de kaart.

You can finish off the card by your own liking. I used an EKtool punch. I covered a piece of white cardstock with Wow! Polished Gold and heat set. I wanted a contrast between the grainy look of the powders in the background and my sentiment. That needed to be very smooth hence the polished gold. I punched out 3x in white cardstock and glued everything together and then my fourth was the golden. Glue the sentiment to the card. This powder/backgrount is so gorgeous, it doesn't need lots of embellishments just a sentiment.

Nieuwe Wow! Poeders - New Colors of Wow! embossing powder

Hi everyone, (scroll down for English)

Wow! heeft nieuwe kleuren embossing poeder en ze zijn echt ook wel wauw!!

De eerste die ik wil voorstellen is de Quad Building Blocks een set van 4 poeders voor onder meer Mixed media. Deze is mega geschikt voor mannenkaarten en heel erg leuk.

Hieronder een foto van de 4 kleuren in deze set en van mijn eerste voorbeeldkaart. Houd mijn blog zeker in het oog voor meer n-inspiratie en meer nieuws.

Wow! has new colors embossing powder en yep they truly are WOW !!

The first i would like to present is the Quad Building Blocks a set of 4 different mixed media colors. Excellent to use for male cards and so much fun.

Below a picture of these 4 new colors and a first sample card to inspire you. Be sure to keep an eye on my blog because more inspiration and more news is comming.

Hoe gedaan? How to?

1. ik heb wit karton tussen een embossing folder van een stenen muur gestoken en door het stansapparaat gedraaid.

First i embossed white cardstock between a brick wall embossing folder.

2. Daarna heb ik met een brayer en versamark inkt over het embosste karton gerold in verschillende richtingen en steeds inkt bijnemen. Waarom doe ik dat met een brayer en niet rechtstreeks met de inktdoos erover? Omdat ik gemerkt heb dat je dan veel minder kans hebt dat de inkt in de groeven terecht komt waar hij niet moet zitten. De brayer rolt mooi over het verheven patroon en gaat niet tussen de groeven komen.

Then i used versamark and a brayer to cover my cardstock with ink. I rolled over it in all different directions each time taking some new ink. Why do i use a brayer instead of going directly with the ink pad to the paper? Because i noticed that with a brayer you have a lot less chance of getting ink between the pattern into the grooves where the ink shouldn't be. The brayer rolls nicely over the elevated pattern and doesn't get into the grooves.

3. Dan strooi je de BRICK kleur erover en verhit met de heat tool langs onder om een mooi glad resultaat te krijgen.

Next you pour the color BRICK over the entire panel tap of gently the excess and heat set from the bottom instead off from above this gives a nice smooth finish.

4. Voeg een tekst naar keuze toe en eventueel wat elementjes. De stans achter mijn tekst is 1 uit een Grunge set snijmallen van Studio Light.

Add a sentiment of your choice and some extra elements if you like. The die cut behind my sentiment is from a die cutting set from one of Studio Light's Grunge sets.
